To make a Tekiah (Gedolah) sound, tilt the shofar at a 45 degree angle and hold your finger on the shofar.

To make a Teruah sound, hold the shofar in its normal position and tap the shofar.

To make a Shevarim sound, slide your finger across the length of  the shofar.
